EAST DENVER CHURCH OF GOD
May 25th, 2020

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

We trust that you have been enjoying the favor, protection, peace and comfort of our God, Christ and the Holy Spirit.  As an update, we will continue to honor Governor Jared Polis’s Safer at Home order that large gatherings above or more than 10 people are still prohibited through May 26.  After this date, large gatherings of 50 or less are allowed.
The EDCOG Church Leadership Council met on May 16, 2020 and voted to reopen on Sunday, June 7th, 2020.  Our reopening will occur on Orthodox Pentecost Sunday or Holy Spirit Sunday.  As of the date of this letter, we are fifteen days from this day of observance of the coming of the Holy Spirit.  We encourage you to meditate and prepare to re-enter in anticipation of encountering the presence of God, the Holy Spirit with us and in us.
In keeping with being socially responsible and considerate of our community and fellow brothers and sisters in Christ who are a part of the high risk group for this virus, we will reopen with strict social distancing and sanitizing guidelines.
  • We first want to thank Andy and Pauletta Anderson for their commitment, dedication and service to making the church a safe and clean space in which to worship.  Thank you both for your labors of love.
How will we social distance
  • Face mask will be required as per CDC recommendations.
  • The maximum number of people allowed in the building will be 46 as this is the maximum number of seats available between the sanctuary main floor, balcony and fellowship room in keeping with social distancing guidelines
  • Seating in the sanctuary and balcony will be one family or household per pew or 3 individuals not of the same family or household per pew, socially distance spaced, 6 feet between each person, for a total of 36 people.
  • The Fellowship Room will function as the Overflow Room.
  • Seating in the Fellowship Room (Overflow Room) will be one family or household per table at a maximum of 3 tables with individuals at the remaining tables for a total of 10 people in this area.
  • Facebook Live will be streaming on the TV in the Fellowship Room (Overflow Room).
  • The seating in sanctuary, balcony and fellowship room will be cleaned between services as well as door handles, etc. and high touch areas.
  • We will suspend meal celebrations and gradually resume these as social distancing guidelines become more relaxed.
  • We will no longer provide coffee, tea or snacks before, during or after service.
  • Please bring your own coffee or beverages in covered containers such as travel mugs or cups.
As always let us be mindful and prayerful, living Philippians 4:6-7:  Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Sincerely,
Your Brothers and Sisters In Christ,
Pastor Bobby Washington and East Denver Church of God Leadership Council
